Presenter:

Jay L. Colbert

Metadata & Discovery Strategy Librarian, UNH

In particular, this workshop will focus on terms relating to sexual orientation, romantic orientation, and gender identity, as well as slang words with other common meanings. Jay will also touch on outdated or offensive terms and when to apply them.

Jay L. Colbert is the Library Director at the Longy School of Music of Bard College. His research focuses broadly on language and ethics in metadata, knowledge organization and management, and queer theory. Jay serves on the Editorial Board for the Homosaurus international LGBTQ+ linked data vocabulary. He has further interests in digital scholarship and copyright.

Sponsored by the NHLA Technical Services Committee.

Login link for the workshop will be emailed to all registrants 1 day prior.

The workshop will be recorded and posted to the NHLA YouTube channel.
