A READS Timeline


1987.   16 libraries form the Reference and Adult Services Section (RASS) of NHLA. Annual dues are assessed at $3/person. It's mission was to serve as "a sounding board and advocate for matters relating to reference and adult services" and "to educate, empower and provide opportunities for collaboration with the entire New Hampshire library community." 

1988.  The acronym of the group is changed to READS.

1989The first spring program, titled “Computers in Libraries,” is offered.

1995  Membership reaches 90.

1999 A listserv for READS members is established.

2002 In response to member surveys, discussion-style roundtables are added to the yearly schedule.  The roundtables are held in multiple locations to enhance participation.

2005. The annual READS Award for Excellence is established.

2007. “READS-TO-GO” is launched. The program offers all-in-one book discussion kits.
